O.P. Jindal Global (Institution of Eminence Deemed To Be University) is located in Sonipat, Haryana and is part of the Delhi NCR (National Capital Region). Sonipat is about 40 kms from New Delhi, and is off the National Highway 1. The distance from the NH1 to JGU is 5 kms.

Is JGU an accredited university?

O.P. Jindal Global (Institution of Eminence Deemed To Be University) is a non-profit global university accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council of India with an “A” grade. JGU has the distinction of being the first and only university in the state of Haryana to be given an “A” grade. Furthermore, JGU is recognized by the University Grants Commission as a private university established under the Haryana Private Universities (Second Amendment) Act (2009).

Tell me about the academic program of Aspire India Scholars Programme (AISP) for High School Students (IX, X, XI & XII)?

Every academic year we conduct the Aspire India Scholars Programme for high school students in the month of May-June at JGU.

Are there any special language requirements for studying in AISP?

Since the academic modules are taught in English, your English should be proficient.

What is the medium of instruction in the University?

The medium of instruction is English.

Are there any language options available?

One or more among the following foreign languages will be the part of AISP – Mandarin, Arabic, Spanish and French.  It will depend upon the availability of the language instructors.

What are the areas of study in AISP?

The AISP curriculum will provide global perspectives, holistic learning, and ethical engagement for students through theme-based experiential learning modules in 9 interdisciplinary areas, which are divided into two courses, Course A and Course B out of which individual student can opt for any one. Course A include Law, Justice and Democracy (LJD); Economy, Public Policy and Development (EPD); Media, Communications and Public Affairs (MCP); Art, Architecture and Design (AAD); Climate change, Environment and Sustainability (CES); Course B include Business management, Leadership and Entrepreneurship (BLE); Diplomacy, International Relations and Peace (DIP); Liberal Arts, Culture and Humanities (LCH); Banking, Finance and Accounting (BFA); Climate change, Environment and Sustainability (CES).

What are the Admissions criteria?

What is the weekly class schedule and where can I find information on academic matters?

Is it necessary to carry a laptop?

The campus is Wi-Fi enabled thus students may find a laptop very useful for their daily work.

How much fee do I need to pay as a Student for attending the Aspire India Scholars Program?

For Aspire India Scholars Programme (AISP), the fees is Rs 30,000 (inclusive of GST) per student and it covers the programme fee and residential expenses.

For Aspire India Immersion Programme (AIIP), the fees is US$ 900 per student (inclusive of GST) and it covers the programme fee and residential expenses. .

What is included in the AISP Fee ?

Tuition, Course material, Workshops, Field trip, Counselling, Social and Cultural activities, Tutorials, Mentorship, Access to JGU library, Gym and sports facilities, Health Center facilities, Accommodation for two weeks (AC rooms), 24 hour Wi-Fi, Laundry, Breakfast, Lunch, Evening snacks & Dinner.

The price does not include flights and medical/travel insurance.

I can no longer attend the program. How much will be the refund? What should I do?

If you’ve been accepted on to Aspire India Scholars Programme, any refund will be limited to recoverable costs. We won’t be able to refund the initial deposit.

You must fill out the Cancellation Form and send it to us.

How can I make the Payment for Aspire India Scholars Programme?
The fee for the program can be paid online via Payment Gateway (during the completion of application form).

What facilities does JGU have?

JGU is located on an 80-acre residential campus in Sonipat. The University has an extremely modern and state-of-the-art infrastructure and facilities for students and staff. Some of the facilities available on campus are noted below.

What all facilities are available for AISP students?

The campus includes the academic center, residential housing, cafeteria, food court, modern and fully equipped recreation centre, conference room, classrooms, learning resource centre (library with computer room), health centre, bank, ATM, travel desk, transport desk, bookstore and convenience store. Every hostel has uninterrupted electricity, solar heated water facility, water cooler with aqua guard filters, common TV Room, common reading room, etc. Some hostels have indoor games facilities and gymnasium. All rooms are air-conditioned and shared bathroom (toilets, washbasins, shower).

What Should I bring to the Program?

The list of items provided for each student in each room in the Student Housing consists of:

Cot, Mattress, Pillow, Study table, Chair, Cupboard furniture, A/C, high speed internet, housekeeping service, filtered water and electric utilities.

The items that you may wish to bring are:

Towel, Additional Bedcover, Stationary, Sports shoes and socks, Toiletries (shampoo, soap, deodorant/antiperspirant), Umbrella, A lockable suitcase and any other items for personal use.

Prescription medication in Original bottles/containers with dosage information (with English translation, if applicable).

Electronic note- taking device (laptop, tablet, or smart phone) and charger.

Voltage transformer and adaptor (if travelling from outside India).

Pharmacies and convenience stores are just a short distance away and sell toiletries, sundries, snacks, and other goods. If you forget something, you can usually purchase items locally when you arrive in JGU Campus.

No student should stay away from his/her room during the night after 10 pm except with prior written permission of the Warden. Students are requested to avoid singing aloud, shouting or making all types of noises that is likely to distract the attention of those who may be studying in their rooms or hostel libraries. Pets of all kinds are prohibited inside the hostel. Any damage caused to hostel property will be charged to the occupants of the room/block along with a fine. Cooking in hostel rooms is not permitted.

What should I wear while I’m at AISP – JGU campus? Do AISP have Dress code for students?

Dress Code: While we respect the dressing norms of different societies and cultures, we also expect the students to adhere to a befitting dress code while visiting the University office, attending the college for lectures/library and at the University’s formal functions. The dress code is applicable to all students on campus, hence we seek your cooperation in abiding to these regulations.

The Dress code at AISP is a fairly relaxed one, and we promote a professional but comfortable learning environment at JGU campus. However, participants should keep in mind that they will be interacting with Jindal Global University faculty and staff on a daily basis. Here is what we suggest:

For the morning afternoon and evening session: long – sleeve or polo shirts, or blouses, and jeans, or pants.

For the final program exercise and end- of- program dinner and graduation event: One or two dressy outfits such as dresses, suits, blouse/ shirt and skirt/Slacks, blazer with tie, or similar.

Please leave at home : cutoffs, “shorts” shorts, mini – skirts, halter  or strapless tops, “ muscle shirts”, shirts with large graphic or type, ripped, shredded, or damaged clothing, party clothing or club wear, clothing that is distracting or otherwise of poor/questionable taste.

What housing facilities are provided for students at the University?

JGU is a residential university and provides on campus housing for all its AISP students. In keeping with the cultural dynamics of educational institutions in India, all residence halls are single gender accommodations. The rooms in the girls' and boys' residence halls accommodate two students each and have shared bathroom (toilets, washbasins, shower).

Are all students required to live on campus?

JGU is a residential campus. All AISP students are required to stay on campus.

What are the dining facilities available at JGU?

There is a student dining hall and a few other catering outlets in the campus. Breakfast, lunch, evening snacks and dinner are served in the Dining Hall. Dining charges are included in the AISP programme fee. There are certain timings for meals and this information will be available on arrival. Only vegetarian meals are served in the Dining Hall. However, students are free to buy non vegetarian food through other catering outlets on the campus.

How are meals organised?

JGU has three dining halls where breakfast, lunch, evening snacks and dinner are served on all days, including weekends. Three nutritious meals as well as snacks is provided each day. Vegetarian meals, including eggs in certain meals are served in the dining hall. To ensure best catering, the university has employed the service of Sodexo, Non –vegetarian food and fast food are available in the campus food court, Biswamil Bistro.  It has popular outlets like Subway, Chicago, Pizza, 34 chowringhee Lane and Moti Mahal, Keventers, Bercos, Dominos, Punjab Grill and a Food Truck.  It remains open from 12 noon to midnight. Café Coffee Day, Juice & More, Nestle Coffee shop and Amul ice cream parlour are some of the other option available. Vending machine dispensing cold drinks, snacks, etc are also installed in all hostels and academic block.  Visit LIFE @ JGU.

I have special dietary requirements. Can you cater for me?

We’re able to cater for all dietary requirements (health and religious). Just notify us as early as possible and we can discuss your needs.

What are the laundry facilities?

We have automated laundry facilities and therefore you do not have to spend time to do your own laundry.  The laundry charges are included in programme fee.

What are the banking and ATM facilities?

There is an ICICI Bank outlet with an ATM machine inside the Campus to cater to the needs of students and faculty members. HDFC Bank has set up an ATM machine on campus which is situated on ground floor, T2 – underneath Admissions Office. YES Bank has also set up an ATM machine on campus near student housing complex. RBL Bank has installed an ATM in the T1 Dinning Hall.

What are the safety and security arrangements on campus?

In line with a majority of universities around the world, the University takes campus security seriously. It has deployed professional security officers and guards, male and female, on a 24×7 basis. The campus is secured also with CCTV cameras at various points including all entry/exit points. Student exit/entry from campus is monitored with bio-metric scanning.

Is there a code of conduct for students?

Yes. Ragging and discrimination of any kind and behavior resulting in damage to property or person on the campus will incur penalties. Details are available in the AISP Code of Conduct.

Are smoking and alcoholic drinks allowed on campus?

No. The University is a smoke-free campus. Alcoholic and other psychotrophic drugs are not allowed on the campus.

What activities can a student indulge in during the Aspire India Scholars Program?

AISP Students have the opportunity to participate in a number and a good variety of academic, cultural and sports activities on campus. Students will experience a healthy and robust cultural life on campus and will have the opportunity to improve their skills in games and sports via practice sessions supervised by professional coaches at the University.

Are students allowed to bring their cars or motorbikes to the campus?

No, students are not allowed to bring their personal vehicles to the campus.

Do I need to carry money?

Tuition covers housing, three meals and two snacks per day, so basic needs are covered. However, you should bring funds to cover your personal expenses such as snacks and any other local shopping expense (souvenirs, personal purchases etc.). ATM machines are located on Campus and accept Visa and MasterCard.

For International Students: In order to avoid the foreign transaction fee and hassle, it is recommended to convert money at the airport or in your hometown prior to arriving at JGU for the program.

Do you need to attend the AISP Orientation?

All the students are strongly encouraged to attend the orientation as it provides a context within which one can meet other students residing in campus for the programme. There are many social activities that will take place as well. Also, a session with the AISP team where all important information is disseminated will be carried out during the orientation.

How is the JGU campus life?

JGU campus life is vibrant and multifold. If you are interested in socio-political issues, sports, festivities, music or any other aspect of Indian culture you will have a great time spending some of your days within the premises of university. JGU will organize a trip for students and you will also get an opportunity to attend ambassador talks, workshops and seminars.

What Rules and Regulation are to be followed in hostel while staying at JGU?

All AISP student need to stay on the campus in a student hostel. No student will be allowed to leave the campus without the prior consent of the AISP team.

Are fellow students comfortable in having friendships?

The programme is designed to foster collaboration making it easier for one to get in touch with other AISP students and make friends from day one.

How much spare time will I have?

You’ll be expected to spend a few hours each day preparing for tutorials and Workshops. There will be plenty of organized activities mostly in the mornings and evenings. But this still leaves ample time to explore JGU. Have a look at our AISP timetable for a clearer idea.

Will there be internet access?

Yes – you’ll have access to 24 hour Wi-Fi networks that function all around the College campus, and in your rooms.


International Students

I am an international student. Do I need a proof of English proficiency to attend?

International students attending schools where English is not the primary language of instruction are required to submit proof of English proficiency from their School Authority.

Students who attend schools where English is the primary language of instruction and native English speakers will not be required to submit English proficiency scores. AISP reserves the right to request additional information for proof of English proficiency.

I am an international student. Do I need a visa to attend?

All international students need to have appropriate visa to attend the AISP Summer School. Details about the process and information on how to obtain your visa are available at the Indian Embassy website of your respective country. Will I be covered by medical insurance?

Each student is responsible for their own insurance policy, and we recommend that you get one before joining us.

Do you arrange visas and insurance?

We do not arrange travel/medical insurance or visas.

Do I have to speak any local language?

Communication is the key to a good education. That is why we recommend you to learn at least a small amount of the local language. Do note that there are many languages spoken in India. In fact, there are 22 official languages in India. The most important is Hindi, which is widely spoken all over north India as well as in many regions in the western, eastern, and central ranges of the country. Although English is popularly assumed to be a widely spoken and understood language in India, it is still far from sufficient for understanding Indian culture

Why should I learn Hindi Language?

For most of India, learning Hindi language will be an excellent investment of your time, as it functions as the lingua franca and will allow you to communicate with the maximum number of people in the country across most of India’s varied geography.

What are the various options available during the Summer School?

O.P. Jindal Global (Institution of Eminence Deemed To Be University) offers Aspire India Scholars Programme (AISP), for high school students (IX, X, XI & XII) during the summer.  An overview of the Aspire India Scholars programme can be found here.

Am I eligible for your program?

To attend Aspire India Scholars Programme for High School, you must be at least a student of (IX, X, XI & XII) by the first day of instruction, we cannot make any exceptions to the Class Requirement.

How long is the programme?

Aspire India Scholar Programme is two weeks long. The AISP scholars are required to have 100% attendance and not miss other activities during the AISP Schedule.

Can I arrive/depart outside our designated days or miss a day of the program?

We cannot accommodate or permit arrival before or after the start date, or departures before a student’s final presentation is completed. Please visit our Apply Page for more information.

What is the deadline to apply?

Application deadline: 26 April 2020.

Will AISP help me get into O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU)?

Admission to AISP does not guarantee admission to O.P. Jindal Global University. What you take from this experience, how you share that experience through your final presentation and how that experience enhances your intellectual life is of importance here. Unfortunately, there is no golden ticket for admission to JGU.

What are the benefits of this program?

Aspire India Scholars Program gives students the opportunity to experience university life and take summer courses on-campus during JGU Summer Quarter. This gives students an opportunity to jumpstart their university experience. Students have the chance to live in the hostel residence, eat at the dining hall, and participate in evening and weekend activities with all other AISP students. What is your admission criteria?

Our AISP committee reviews individual applications in a holistic manner taking every section of the application into consideration. We recommend reviewing the Application Guide for information on all the sections that are reviewed in the application. Visit Application Guide Page.

I am a returning student who attended Aspire India Scholars Programme (AISP) last summer. Do I have to apply again?

Returning applicants, need to re-apply for attending the AISP. Please contact our office at aisp@jgu.edu.in if you are a returning student.

I want to come and study at Aspire India Scholars Programme, but my area of interest isn’t listed. Can you still accommodate me?

All our courses are mandatory for the student. Each student will be attending all the modules during the summer school.  We welcome all students having various area of interest.  The student should be willing to explore different courses at this young age. It will enrich the experience of all AISP scholars participating in summer school.

Is there a minimum academic standard?

Our tutors can give first-rate tutorials to students of all abilities. All we ask is you have a genuine passion for your chosen subject for final presentation and a sufficiently good level of written and spoken English.

Can I get an AISP ID?

The AISP ID is distributed by our office to all AISP scholars during the orientation in the programme.

How do I send in transcripts? What do you need for transcripts?

Our office does not require official transcripts directly from your school. We request that students upload scanned copies of unofficial transcripts, report cards, or online score reports along with their application. The transcript documents must include the student’s name and grades. We require grades of the previous class only. Please refer to the Application Guide for more information.

How do I make payment for the application fee? Can I send cash or Cheque?

The application fee payment must be completed along with the application. The AISP Portal allows to view the information submitted and make payment in order to complete the application process.

Payments must be made as per the option available for payment through the online portal. Unfortunately, we do not accept cash. Please contact our office at aisp@jgu.edu.in for further query.

Why have my documents not been verified?

The verification of documents is done by our office, and may take some time to process. Please be patient as our office staff works as quickly as possible to verify your documents.

When do I get an AISP ID?

Students will receive an AISP ID only after they have been confirmed into the program. Please continue to be patient as our office staff works as quickly as possible to process AISP IDs for the students.


After You Become a Confirmed Student

How many courses should I take?

All students are supposed to take all the course during the summer school. We recommend that students should have time to balance academics with extracurricular, social, and educational activities planned throughout the programme.

What form of ID do I need to present at check-in?

O. P. Jindal Global University requires students to present government-issued or school- issued photo ID before receiving AISP IDs. Examples of such ID may include passport, Aadhaar ID card.

For students who do not currently have a government-issued photo ID, we recommend bringing school- issued photo ID and Aadhaar Card which can be issued to minors.

Can I request to select my roommate?

We do not take roommate requests. In fact, to further enrich our participant’s experience, we will purposefully pair students from different geographical areas in the same room. Similar to the Jindal freshman experience, you learn the name of your roommate when you arrive at your Hostel.

When should I make travel arrangements? Is there transportation from the airport/railway station?

Our office does not recommend making any travel arrangements until the student has got the Confirmation email from AISP team. We do provide transportation to/from JGU campus. If you have any questions, contact our office via email at aisp@jgu.edu.in

Can you book my flights and transfers?

You need to book your own flight/train ticket. Once booked, we recommend to fill the AISP enrollment form at the earliest.


After You Attend the Programme


  • Do I gain credits at my school for completing Aspire India Scholars Programme?

Do I gain credits at my school for completing Aspire India Scholars Programme?

Our courses can gain you credit if our teaching model meets the credit requirements of your school and the curriculum that you are follow. Former AISP Scholars were enabled to sharpen their critical thinking skills and begin research in their extended essay (an essential part of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) course). Other Scholars used their work as part of the research component as well. All modules are taught using seminars and tutorials (mirroring the teaching methods used by Jindal Global University) and in over 2 weeks you receive 14hrs of tuition in addition to at least 15hrs of independent research while preparing your final presentation. As credit requirements vary between institutions, please ask your home institution whether they recognize our teaching model as credit-bearing. Our AISP Team would be happy to speak to you or your home institution if you have any specific questions.

What certificate do I gain by completing Aspire India Scholars Programme?

Your certificate will be issued by O.P. Jindal Global University and will state your name and course dates; it will be signed by the Vice Chancellor and the Registrar of the University. You will receive the certificate during the graduation day ceremony on your last day of AISP.
